We are pleased to announce a number of new case studies from Open Repository customers, demonstrating how they have set up their own repositories and the journey they have taken in doing so. They are from a diverse range of institutions and include Manchester Metropolitan University, Médecins Sans Frontières, Fundación Instituto Leloir and the Helmholtz Centre of Infection Research (HZI).

In November, Open Repository was a key sponsor of the SPARC Digital Repositories Meeting 2010 in Baltimore. The event involved discussions of repository developments and challenges and included a presentation by Michael Guthrie entitled ‘Managing Language Versions in DSpace’ about our work with the World Health Organization’s repository.

Additionally, Claire Bundy hosted a well-received presentation at the DINI/Helmholtz workshop titled ‘Drivers and Benefits of a Hosted Solution’, discussing the benefits of implementing a repository and including a case study on the Helmholtz Centre for Infectious Diseases, whom we have worked in partnership with since 2004.

Simon Neilson also presented at the Gulf SLA-AGC conference last month in Oman. Open access is in its infancy in the Middle East, so attendees were really interested in ‘An institutional response to the evolvement of open access’ and how exactly this could work at their institutions.
