In this issue... Customer Feature – Open Access DatafeedsHelmholtz Zentrum für Infektionsforschung (Helmholtz Centre of Infection Research) launched their repository in December 2006 and have become the first of Open Repository customer to use the open access datafeeds feature that is available to Silver customers. This feature enables a datafeed of metadata to be fed from PubMed Central to a repository for all open access articles that have been published by an institution and therefore helping to populate the repository.
The Helmholtz Centre of Infection Research, which is a member of the HelmHoltz Association, Germany’s largest scientific organization fed articles into its repository using Open Repository’s datafeeds feature. To date approximately 100 items, from 2 years worth of PubMed Central data, have been uploaded into their repository and the harvesting is ongoing. Populating your repositoryPopulating your repository can be one of the major challenges facing institutions and as such Open Repository has developed its features and services with this in mind. Open Repository offers a range of promotional materials to all its customers to assist with the promotion of the repository around the institutions but it also has number of additional tools above the regular submission form that are specifically aimed to making populating the repository as easy as possible for both administrators and users.
